Proactive Rehabilitation & Wellness
Your guides to better health!
Proactive Rehabilitation & Wellness offers comprehensive post-surgical rehabilitation to patients following a joint replacement, surgical repair, or other surgical procedure. We work with your surgeon to facilitate your recovery.
ProActive therapists use physical agents (heat, light, sound waves, electric current) and techniques (massage, joint mobilization, exercise) as well as active treatment techniques that accelerate recovery and get you back to your daily routines and activities.

Whether you’ve had an orthopedic surgery (e.g. joint replacement, spine surgery, fracture fixation) or a major surgery that has left you deconditioned (generally weak and tired) to the point that you are having difficulty performing your daily activities, ProActive Rehabilitation & Wellness will work with your surgeon to facilitate your recovery. For your safety and to achieve the best possible outcome, your therapist will request and review your surgery report, communicate with your surgeon about any activity restrictions or precautions, and follow any treatment protocols your surgeon provides.
After injury or surgery, your body tries to heal itself. This takes a great deal of energy, leaving most people feeling fatigued in the weeks following surgery. Most people who have general surgery do not require physical or occupational therapy to recover; their bodies will do the work and within a few months they will be recovered. There are some instances when it is necessary to involve therapy to facilitate the recovery process.
Most surgeries into a joint will require physical or occupational therapy to manage the recovery process and make sure you get back to your normal activities. The more extensive the surgery, the more scarring will be produced. Highly mobile joints like the shoulder are more likely to have functional limitations if the healing process is not well managed. Other situations where the skills of a physical or occupational therapist can be invaluable are: periods of immobilization after the procedure, pain that prevents follow through with post-operative instructions, and medical conditions or complications that limit your ability to perform the rehabilitation on your own.
We also provide in-home therapy for patients who are not eligible for home health services yet are not able to travel to the clinic due to health reasons. Your therapist will bring the necessary equipment and supplies to where you are, until you’re able to come to us.
