Proactive Rehabilitation & Wellness
Your guides to better health!
Proactive Rehabilitation & Wellness offers comprehensive Spine & Back Rehabilitation Treatment to help you overcome your pain and get back to doing the things that are important to you.
80% of people will experience back pain at some point in their lives, and it tends to be recurrent. In fact, the best predictor of whether a person will experience an episode of back pain is if he or she has had an episode in the past! At Proactive Rehabilitation & Wellness, we believe that for back pain treatment to be considered a success, it’s not enough to treat the immediate symptoms. We must also have a plan focusing on prevention of future episodes.
Addressing The Following
Lower Back Pain
Neck Pain
Spine Dysfunction
Back Spasm
Our Process
Now, we know that all back pain is not the same, just as all chest pain is not the same. When a person goes to the emergency room with chest pain, he or she expects to be evaluated by a specialist who will recognize the pain pattern to differentiate between indigestion and a heart attack (which drives the decision of TUMS versus nitroglycerine.) Likewise, successful treatment for an episode of low back pain must match the type of pain you have. ProActive therapists have experience evaluating clients with spinal pain, allowing us to quickly and efficiently recognize even complex patterns.
ProActive therapists use an Evidence-Based Treatment (EBT) approach to treat problems in the spine (neck and back). EBT simply means that we stay up-to-date on clinical research and use the treatment techniques that have been shown to be most effective for each specific type of back pain.
Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment (MDT or McKenzie) is a widely-researched approach for evaluating, categorizing and treating problems in the spine. ProActive therapists have received extensive post-graduate training in MDT and will use their skills and knowledge to help you recover from your spinal problem and prevent recurrences.
We also follow a biopsychosocial approach, which means we understand that it’s not always just an issue with the tissues. Pain, especially chronic pain and low back pain, often involves not only muscles and bones, but also nervous system & social/emotional components that must also be addressed in order to promote long-lasting relief and self-management of symptoms.
